Ever heard of a firebreak? Wilderness specialists will strategically strip trees, grass, and plants down to rubble and earth, to stop wildfires from spreading.
The men are turning their lives into a firebreak, and it’s the incredible to see. Many are born into relentless heartbreak where addiction and loss catches like a wildfire, passing from father to son in an unbroken line of pain.
But many of these men are breaking out. They join a men’s group, find friends, start the hard work of turning their actual life into a firebreak, so that they have a real chance. So the future has a chance.
That’s why this issue of THE HEROIC MAN doesn’t pull any punches.
From a recap of our recent ‘Future of Catholic Men’ convocation, to conversations with former NFL players and special speakers, we’re trying to understand how all men seek heroism.
The men at the recent convocation come from all across our nation. They believe that men must get off the sidelines in their own lives, and get to work.
The only thing we good men cannot do... is nothing.
What kind of brotherhood will we build for our own sake, a shieldwall we can call on any time when we can barely stand?
How will we strengthen our wives and newborns, our grandchildren and their dreams, our parish and our Church? It’s up to us to build a brotherhood our families can count on.
We’re on a seven year countdown to the anniversary of the Resurrection of Christ. What an incredible time to be alive. If life has cut you off at the knees, now is the time to start again. Who will we be? What will we do? Who will we inspire? How will we help?
As a ministry, Heroic Men is stepping up to marshall a million men. A million men who pledge to pray together, strengthen brothers together, and invite new men together into brotherhood.
It starts with you and me. It starts now. Help us figure it out, and lets build it together.
